Community Expungement Clinic & Second Chance Resource Fair

A fresh start begins with opportunity at the Community Expungement Clinic & Second Chance Resource Fair, hosted by the NAACP Sanford (Lee County) Branch 5447-B as part of their Justice Bus Tour 2026–2027 Build Grant Initiative. Taking place on Saturday, August 15th, starting at 10:00AM at Gospel Lighthouse Church, this free, public event features featured legal presenter Attorney Dawn Blagrove, Founder & Executive Director of Emancipate NC.

Attendees can access registration, intake, and pre-screening, receive a free confidential eligibility review and one-on-one consultation with volunteer attorneys, get assistance completing expungement paperwork for eligible participants, explore reentry, workforce, and community resource referrals, and take advantage of free health screenings provided by the NAACP Health Committee and Helping Hands Clinic, alongside Spanish language assistance. Designed for anyone with dismissed charges, not guilty verdicts, past nonviolent misdemeanor or felony convictions, or general questions regarding North Carolina expungement laws, attendees are encouraged to bring a photo ID, a copy of their North Carolina criminal record (if available), court paperwork, and questions for legal volunteers.
