The Lee County Libraries will be hosting Making our Voices Heard, a traveling exhibit from North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources from September 3rd through October 27th. The exhibit tells the stories of seven everyday North Carolinians and extraordinary leaders — Gertrude Weil, Henry Owl, Joe Lewis, Abraham Galloway, Ronald Mace, James Hunter, and Willa Player — who petitioned, protested, and organized to expand democracy. The exhibit explores change, freedom, civic responsibility, and overcoming challenges by telling the story of a few North Carolinians who have raised their voices to call out injustice and fully participate in our democratic society. The exhibit will be open to the public: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 AM – 7 PM Fridays and Saturdays 12 PM – 4 PM Special dates and times are available to host classroom field trips, please reach out to Kate Munn at 919-718-4665 if you are interested in scheduling.
